Ich hab ihn Anfang des Jahres in einem kleinen Plattenladen in D?sseldorf gesehen und mir direkt gedacht, dass es eine gute Idee sei, ihn einzuladen.

Would be awesome if at some point at Phobos appears a smaller stage for newcomers at the dark ambient scene. It may be called Deimos stage or something. Would be really cool because the festival will grow Smile

I thought about a two-day event which would make it possible to offer more bands the possibility to play. But I think that we already have established acts and "newcomers" as well. Tobias from False Mirror was rather unknown before the great album on Malignant, I?d say the same about some more bands that played in the last years.

What about the heating in the Sophienkirche? Last year it was horrible cold there...

Martin posted this via his Phelios page a week ago. I especially appreciate the uniform remark. You, Germans are out of control when it comes to industrial/goth stuff Grin

Zitat

Only 10 days left until Phobos IV! Some interesting facts:
- The church has a new heating system. It will be warm!
- The new smoking area is ready, you can smoke inside!
- New released from Loki Found will be available!
- Sph?re Sechs will do a unique performance with three people on stage and a brand new video presenting our "Tiefschlaf" album!
- everyhing will be cool and nice!

AND PLEASE LEAVE ANY POLITICAL STUFF OR SOMETHING THAT LOOKS LIKE IT OUTSIDE! YOU JEOPARDIZE THE FESTIVAL?S EXISTENCE BY DOING OR WEARING STUPID THNIGS. YOU DON?T NEED A UNIFORM FOR AN AMBIENT CONCERT. Thanks for listening.

I am really quite astonished that nobody mentions anything about the festival. Since it was a great success it seemed, I wanna share my thoughts.
First: this year it was warm again (at least till midnight ;P).

I don?t have any information if Phobos was sold out this year like in all the years before. However, it quite looked this way.

Of course, you had the chance to buy music there from deep-audio what I did directly after getting a good seat.

The evening started with Premontion Factory. Martin told the audience that he saw him live in D?sseldorf. All in all, 2 visitors. Quite disappointing, so he was invited to Phobos. My friend and I shared the opinion that this was a great start. I was told that the music was all live. It was a kind of a live interpretation of his new album, called The Theory of Nothing which we both purchased. He really took his time to build up a wall of sound. Felt like a gradual development until even a kick drum set in. It worked really well and was a powerful addition to his beautiful soundscapes.

Next was Aun. Wonder if they were touring anyway or coming from canada just to play one concert for 45 minutes (certainly not). Anyway, for me at least, the music was too noisy and containd high pitched sounds that really hurt my ears. Some parts I enjoyed and the visual aspect was great, but all in all, my ears were grateful when it was over.

Sph?re Sechs: After Aun I was happy to relax my ears again. I want to begin with the absolute stylish and homogenic (and abstract) visualization which ideally-suited the music. The album is called Tiefschlaf and that describes it very well. Flowing calmly, it was this band that allowed to drift away the best this evening if you wanted to. They had a guest musician who did..something with a kind of cable and...well, watch the video that will be online sooner or later. Great gig this was.

S.E.T.I.: Well, it was cristal clear that Lagowski will convice me with his music. maybe most of you know it anyway. Visualization was very 70s influenced I would say..and quite abstract. Maybe a bit cheesy I dare say : ) But entertaining. After confronting him with my impresiion that he is not the most lively person when it comes to the audiences feedback, he just wrote me : "I am shy : )" Okay then ; ) Nevertheless, I little bit more of interaction with some tools or something would have been nice.

This was done by Desiderii Manginis. What a great combination of atmospheric black-white pictures and hopeless sounding music. Levin used a small cymbal and pulled it over a piece of metal (?!), grabbed a feedback off the monitors and did a sound with his breath/mouth. However, a very concentrated looking man, haha. This was a perfect ending for every dark ambient epicure out there.

All in all, again, a great evening that will find its continuation in October 2013!

Thanks for sharing this!

If I hadn't been somewhere in Norway at the time, I would have attended the festival.

Not all of the music performed was my cup of tea, but I found the entire evening to be most enjoyable.

Sphereshift descibed it very well: it was warm (at least until midnight) and AUN was too loud and noisy, a pain in my ears. I purchased their CD "Black Pyramid" and it seems, that their music is not so bad if heard with a moderate loudness ;-) (I listened to it only once until now, so I can give no detailed review).

But all in all it was a very nice and pleasant evening and I look forward to the Phobos V in 2013!

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

It was a pleasure to have all the nice people here in Wuppertal once again or for the first time.

I was able to edit and upload my own performance:

Sorry for the disruption. My power grid provider installed a smart meter.

Das liegt daran, dass ich überhaupt nur ganz wenige "Bands" im Programm habe. Wink

Ich bin nun regelmäßig hier auf dem Sender. Einige Bands werden gar nicht gespielt. Schade !!!
