A big Hello, I am Winterbound from Ireland and it is a pleasure to be here on this forum among many friends and fellow Dark Ambient lovers.
Winterbound is my solo dark ambient/experimental project which began in 2006 and has since gone on to gain a fanbase and radio airplay time. Winterbound evolved from a single idea to create a feeling of enclosure, isolation and dread but along the way through the years it mutated into something else and encompasses all forms of darkness, leaving no stone unturned. The project combines cinematic drums layered with a tapestry of sonic soundscapes beautifully crafted, with pieces ducking and weaving in and out to form complex layers and scapes.
Winterbound releases are done on my own net-label which is used to serve my own projects and that of my friends who are also involved in the Dark Ambient scene. Currently there is much interest from labels who wish to work with me, as of yet I have not made any decisions regarding a label, for two reasons, I can release through my own label, and I have been to busy with non music related projects the past few weeks to make a sealed commitment to a label.
My music is frequently played on Electro-music radio, and I have also played sets there too.
Winterbound is a project focused on the passion of dark ambient and the creative side as opposed to the business side of the industry, which is why I focus mainly on net-labels rather than labels that sell the artists music. Free music is a huge importance to me and releasing my works as free to all and everyone has always been a key goal and ambition to this whole project. I am a strong believer that the fans play a huge part in making or breaking a project, as with commercial music they pump large sums of cash into Advertising an artist alone ? but within this genre we all adore I have always had strong views and believed that fans make a project, as there is less advertising costs which mean you can only reach a small percentage of people through the world.
Free music is and always will be key to Winterbound.
