Good to hear! Take your time. 9 months should allow for really slow work.
I have now contacted Robert Rich, Brian Williams, and Steve Roach.

@Svartsinn: Mac is crap! I spent almost one year on getting used to this stupid machine. I am happy to have my PC back in the studio. |

And I'm still accepting mac presents
Btw is there really a significant difference. I've tried both, haven't tried mac for composing actually but... Isn't it a matter mostly of personal choice and of some perverse kind of brand loyalty huh? Apple are also making computers not flying sausages, aren't they... However I've seen quite an impressive number of mobile musicians equipped with macbooks and it cannot be without any reason...

Just an update: Brian Williams declined. From Robert Rich I got a very kind message via myspace:
Zitat Thanks for your friend request and the two notes. I'm very glad that you have found at least a few of my pieces that fit your show, if not actually "most", and I am honored by your request for a compilation track. At the moment I won't be able to provide any new compositions specifically for use on your compilation, as I am busy working on some other projects and also traveling a bit this month. However I will keep you in mind if some appropriate music should grow wings in the studio. |

for some curious and diabolical reason i'm now again able to login in the site. it will be a pleasure to partecipate in compilation and also the stuff seems good.
maybe the administrator can ask to H?rleif Lang?s (as The Human Voice) to be in compilation.
very glad to hear about Svartsinn! |

Seconded about Svartsinn's participation! absolute great new!!
I have an idea for the compilation, what about to make ( or at least, trying to hehe) a 'collective' track? I was thinking on this way :
Someone makes a sound ( a regular .wav. /44.100khz) think about 1 minute max., then post here ( or on a special thread) , then other user add his/her own sound to the first sound. It could be something similar or something totally different, but the goal its to keep the track interesting and into a dark ambient way, of course.
Some points :
A - 1 minute long sound max. per participant , I know 1 minute maybe isn't enough time to tell a history , but this time restriction its to avoid a massive , very looooong , unhandly track. Maybe in a future we can make a track with no extension on time limits, who knows..
B - keep it oriented to the whole track.
C - be imaginative!
What do you think?
If the idea looks nice on theory but doesnt work on praxis, the final result will be out of the compilation of course, but still will remains as an interesting experience.
We have enough time 'till deadline. I will be very glad to read your oppinions and thoughts about.

i like the idea, but seems pretty hard with samples when they don't fit in. so the patchwork could be out of your personal taste very fast and what to do then ? put another layer on it ? i looked for a sample, for sure i could up one for download but this will not be the best quality.

I thought on adding samples one after one. I mean : my minute sample + your minute sample = 2 minutes long track. Got the idea?
Yes, maybe the track takes a direction who isn't exactly personal taste, but this is just a experience. The interesting thing will be : "ok, I got this audio, lets see what I have to continue its development" . We can apply little editions ( fading) of received sample in order to make it fit.
About participants in the compilation its gonna be great to invite Mr. Nordvarg to join the trip.

It is a nice idea actually it may become a really long track, including each of the projects specific sound in one minute, which on one side would be interesting... But on the other the track may just sound as a patchwork... Hmm maybe we'll be too many to make something like this... but considering the fact we'll be making a dvd audio we are not that limited from the whole length of the track...
It is an interesting idea for sure and if it to be added to the comp we should decide that all together. For sure it is an interesting experience, which we should give a try no matter for this or for other occasion. |

Very nice idea to transcend this way the boundaries of individual artistic work. Really would like to hear the results. Maybe if you don't restrict the way each one alters or adds to the track, making it a more organic work. And there could result a dozens of versions after an evolutionary process.
I have cleaned up the fileden account we used with vol. 1.
For those of you who were involved in vol. 1, find user/password in the 9th poste in this thread: http://www.darkambientradio.de/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=15&thread_id=180
The others will get the account details via forum pm.
Menu --> Login (first time you login some annoying questions appear, just click 'Pass' a few times to get rid of them)
After login: Menu --> Files --> 'Upload Files' button or click on a file to download it |

Ah, some updates: Stefan/Barakah will ask Glitch, the other member of Troum, if there will be a chance for a track on the comp. And I think Robert Rich is quite serious about keeping our comp in mind (he gave me the license to bother him for the next months to see if something drops off his regular work -- and thus I will). |

Robert is one of the nicest guys I have ever met.

As 'the instigator' behind the idea of making an audio piece between all DAR's compilation participants, I just have upped my contribution to the colletive work, that is the first sound to continue/build the track.
Following the 'rules' , I provide you with a 1 minute long, 44.100 Khz .wav file.
Hope you find it interesting and/ or inspirational to add yours.
So, " Gentlemen, start your engines! "

Mmm, seems that we'll need a whole new thread for this work.

Very well. Ok, if I take it into the review loop for selection and possible addition to the streams playlist? Vile seems to have mobilized the whole ODP label...
