Another one of my party to home early at morning reviews -- to be read symphathetically....
Yes, I'm thankful to my mp3 player and the breakcore gods Gridlock for giving me another pleasent fly to home experience that too infrequently results in such a writing.
To cite Wiki:
"Their style was originally akin to the sound of Skinny Puppy with less vocals and an ambient aspect not normally found in industrial. Eventually, they took on more and more ambient and electronic sounds and slowly removed their industrial edge and any trace of vocals. Today, they could better be compared to Autechre due to their newer IDM sound and to Panacea for their Drum & Bass experimentation."
Definitely: Before I got to know Gridlock, I considered Autechre the cutting edge of this kind of electronic avantguarde, but Gridlock simply adds another dimension to the style.
Gridlock thrives to connect their incommensurable rythms to cascading overtones resulting in the ultimate symbiosis of these seemingly most distant elements of music.
On this stream you will only experience two selected tracks that won't overstrain the scope of the core genre Dark Ambient too far: Done Processing and Chrometaphor, the latter I consider a masterwork of electronic music. Both taken from the album Formless. If you like it, I would switch off this stream and go buying their albums as these tracs are being played far too seldom in DAR's playlist that contains more than 3000 tracks now. ;P
