Hi.
Some of you might know that I'm member of an experimental music group called EMU. We often have improvised sessions and (what is no doubt result of my membership) getting more towards ambient from time to time.
Here's my post-production of a session we had last Friday. It was raining cats and dogs outside and the music had some really shamanic/ritual character so I called it 'calling the sky'.
musicians:
Andhi Pabst - Ballastseite
Axel Baune - Ballastseite
Christine Söffing - Ballastseite
Dieter Trüstedt - Windharfe, Ballastseite, effects
Isolde Werner - voice
Klaus Schmidtke - voice, recording
Tobias Hornberger - synthesizers, effects, field recording, post-production
Ballastseite is a custom-built string instrument, it consists of a drum or any other resonant body (in this track we had 2 with drums and two with large metal canisters). The resonant body is hanging from a tripod and a violin string is mounted on the lower part of it, weight down by heavy pieces of metal. The Ballastseite is played with violin bows.
Windharfe is a custom-built drone instrument, an electric harp that is mounted on a huge mast outside the Musisches Zentrum.
If you'd like to hear us live, tune in to freeFM today, 25th October at 23:00. The live-stream is here:
http://freefm.lauschangriff.org/freefm128k.m3u
It is going to be a total improvisation, we will bring dozens of instruments and other stuff, the setup will also be broadcasted.
Thanks! Did anyone listen to the radio show? It really was kind of chaos, but still much fun.
If there's an interest I will upload the recording as soon as i have it, Anyway, there will be more of those live concerts in the radio.
