The same way Stephen likes and is part of the Berlin School ambient, with their specific sound and vintage gear and finds this the ultimate type of ambient, you have to right to like Lustmord or any other project that satisfies your aesthetical understanding and needs.
Thanks for dropping my name here . I tend to say, though, that your statement is not really accurate when it comes to my current output, it would be more appropriate for what I do under the ['ramp] moniker as ['ramp] is more firmly rooted in that traditional Berlin School genre ("Ceasing to Exist" being the exception that goes to confirm the rule).
As for my own work, it certainly used to be the case some fifteen years ago but it no longer is. Check "rhizophora" or "cold storage" over at musiczeit.com and you´ll understand why .

I am not familiar with these two releases of yours so the note is accepted. I have to check them maybe I'll find them closer to my idea(l) for ambient music. |

I think you might like them (and perhaps some of the other releases over there, too, as they are probably a lot closer to the definitions of DA).

I want to hear musicianship and wit when it comes to sound design. That´s all. And after listening to "Apollo" by Brian Eno, "Dreamtime Return" and "Magnificent Void" by Steve Roach, "Uranography" and "Nachtmusik" by Lightwave, "Below Zero" by Robert Rich, and "Planetary Unfolding" by Michael Stearns, this somewhat spoilt my perception of "ambient" and "interesting" quite a bit.
Thanks for the interesting playlist Stephen. Seems that almost all of these songs can be found here grooveshark.com. |

I actually attended the gig in Berlin in October and I saw him perform again a couple of weeks ago in STockholm, before which I got to attend his seminar in stockholm. It was very interesting and the gig in Berlin was excellent, however, the gig in stockholm was "only" good. The problem was very clear - Brians music demands good PA system, and good visual equipment as well as a suiting setting.
In the right circumstances his music can still be overwhelming when loud and in the right setting, but if we're talking his recent evolution I would say his music is starting to show a tendency for banality and oversimplifying and redoing what he has already done and what others are copying... |

It was basically Brian spending some time discussing his history, his relationship to the genre, other music, film composition etc. Very open, but simply a seminar on lustmord. |
