Hey guys,
I've got a few submission credits to put albums out for digital distribution (itunes, amazon, spotify and such). If you'd like to get your music out there, hit me up on sashaaus at gmail.com.
Doesn't have to be new, could be anything not released digitally already.

I was thinking about if we should consider distributing the three DAR Comps this way. Either Bandcamp or a multiplyer like you suggested.
From which service do the credits come? Do you have an overview over the most notorious ones? What are the usual terms?
As I'm currently writing a software for a collecting society, I'm interested in the business side of the technology used.
How long are the credits valid and for how many releases/tracks do you have credits? |

Yeah, Bandcamp you can just make a free account and put up your own price - easy as...
If you want digital distro on itunes etc. there are a few services, and costs range depending on what coverage you want. cdbaby starts from $29 per album for standard distro. Add a few $ for barcode if you don't have one already. This is the kind of credit I have got, barcode included. I have 4 album submissions left now...
From what I gather, this kind of music can barely make this back in a year, if lucky. Could take 3-5 years to reach $100. I fully expect to not recuperate my costs, so not proposing it as a business transaction, I just don't see much point in bothering with accounting for a payment of $10 a year. Just thought if people need to make their music heard, I'd do it. If it starts making tons of money, I would certainly split it... but I wouldn't hold my breath. Especially for the stuff which has already been released a few years ago.
Just to give you an idea, the worst performing album I've got made $5 in the first year, and it's by a moderately well known artist... I doubt it will ever break even at this pace... And most of the other stuff isn't far ahead. This is an obscure genre, and as far as I understand most fans of it prefer CDs for high quality listen, while others wouldn't want to pay for it at all.

Trades among labels, who often have small distros, seemed to be what keeps the scene together in some way. I don't have a clue about the share compared with the 'big' distribution channels.
Apart from a trade with Cold Spring in December, a few sales on Discogs, and the Amazon fullfillment here in Germany (which is rather ineffective and buerocratic) there wasn't any distribution actrivity for the DAR comps in recent months. I think, I'll give CD Baby a try, if you want to donate three of your remaining vouchers.

what about some fresh promotion, you known, for the new audience who doesnt known about the comps.
Ok, compilations are from years ago, but they could be interesting for new listeners, so no need to let them sleeping stored somewhere.
