Hi all,
I would like to announce the release of the new ['ramp] album "steel and steam" for 1st july 2011. It is going to be the successor to the 2009 ['ramp] album "debris", and very much like "debris", it had been in the making for quite some time. There will be six sections on the album altogether:
zeppelin
node (part 1 and 2)
solenoid
[led]
puppets (feat. Mark Shreeve)
steel and steam (parts 1 to 4, feat. Mark Shreeve)
I´m very proud and happy to have Mark Shreeve and his Moog IIIc modular on the album for the title track and another beautiful gem, "puppets". These two sections were recorded at his Distant Sun studio in London a while ago. The other sections were recorded at my own Cold Furnace studio in 2010. If you know my previous work (and the work Mark created with both Redshift and ARC), you will get an idea of what style to expect. "steel and steam" has become -- despite its title -- the most accessible ['ramp] album so far (whatever that is going to say), and even though the title track is as ballsy as a modular Moog can get, there is a strong melodic flavour throughout the album. I even dusted off my Yamaha CS80 for some tracks, so if that isn´t reason enough to order your copy I don´t know what is . Okay, there is plenty of other analogue and modular stuff on it, so if gear-spotting and reading gearlists is your cup of tea, you might want to go for it just for that reason . While we´re at it, the album will be limited to 300 numbered copies and it will not be available as a digital download (unless some fucker infringes on my mental property, that is).
The easiest way of ordering your copy would be sending an email directly to me (stephen at parsick dot com or stephen dot parsick at gmx dot de).
